Denver was promised an exciting ride with a new franchise quarterback. Instead, the Broncos have one of the worst offenses in the NFL and the deal they gave Russell Wilson is looking like one of the worst we have seen in recent years.
The Broncos lost to the Colts 12-9 at Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday night in overtime. Russell Wilson had a rough night, finishing the game with two interceptions, four sacks, and a quarterback rating of 15.9.
Wilson is unable to cook on the field at this point in his career. That is not good for a man who got a massive five-year, $245 million contract extension in September before he even played one snap with the Broncos.
ESPN’s Ryan Clark didn’t hold back when blasting Wilson on Friday’s edition of Get Up.
“I’ve been out in front of this. I said it in the offseason: he’s not an all-time great,” Clark said. “Just plugging Russell Wilson in doesn’t give you an offense that can automatically get you to the Super Bowl.”
He then took it a step further by taking a jab at the whole “let Russ cook.”
“At some point, we need to realize we are now ordering Uber Eats,” Clark said. “We are now waiting on our waiter. We are not letting Russ cook. If we’re waiting for Russ to cook in Denver, we are going to starve.”
