Another Sunday, another questionable play by Patriots second year quarterback Mac Jones. During last weekends game between New England and the Cincinnati Bengals, following a fumble, Jones was trying to run down Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt and prevent him from scoring.
Once he realized that he was going to be unable to catch Pratt, Jones decided to make a highly unnecessary low block on Cincinnati cornerback Eli Apple. He was not flagged on the play, but after the game Apple referred to it as a “dirty play”.
This is not the first controversial play Jones has been involved this season and many are starting to take notice.
Former Steelers Safety and current ESPN Analyst Ryan Clark took to Twitter and posted a video of some of Jones’ questionable plays, along with a message for the quarterback.
Once a player gets the reputation of being “dirty” around the league, he starts to get treated differently by his fellow players as well as the officials. Since he is only in his second season and has not earned the respect around the league just yet, Jones needs to do his best to avoid any more controversial plays for the foreseeable future.
