The Seattle Seahawks are going to be without Russell Wilson for a while. The Seahawks quarterback is expected to be out approximately six weeks after undergoing surgery on his finger as it turned out to be more complicated than expected, with Wilson needing screws to stabilize the finger.
Not long after the above report, Ciara, Wilson’s wife, posted the QB from his bedside in the hospital.
“You’re the toughest Man I know,” Ciara said in the post. “Always dedicated and committed to do whatever it takes. I love you so much my Sweet King. Thank you Dr Shin and team for taking care of my baby.”
The surgery treated a ruptured finger tendon, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The Seahawks released a statement and said that Wilson will start therapy this weekend, but did not provide a timeline for his return. They added that it was “highly anticipated” that he will return this season.
“Based on what I saw today, I am fully confident Russell will return to the NFL this season and play at the same world-class level that fans have come to expect of one of the game’s very best quarterbacks,” team doctor Steven Shin said in a statement.
Last Thursday night, Wilson made his exit from the game against the Los Angeles Rams in the third quarter, when his hand collided with the hand of Rams star Aaron Donald on a pass. Cameras caught his finger bending back in a gruesome way.
Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith filled in for Wilson under center and widely impressed the fan base with his play that almost led to him winning the game in the end. Smith figures to start at quarterback for the Seahawks for the foreseeable future with Wilson out at least a month.
His absence means his impressive ironman streak of 149 straight games across 10 seasons to open his career comes to an end. The team currently sits in last place in the NFC West at 2-3, with the 4-0 Arizona Cardinals and 4-1 Rams already leading the pack. To make things even worse, the Seahawks don’t have their own first-round pick in next year’s draft, having sent it to the New York Jets in the Jamal Adams trade.
