Russell Wilson has shared another message via social media in the wake of his benching.
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton decided to sit the quarterback down for the final two games of the regular season, replacing him with Jarrett Stidham. And, while Wilson was disappointed, he has remained professional.
He even showed support after Stidham helped Denver snag a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17.
“Keep Going! Keep Working! Keep Believing!” he shared on X this Thursday.
Payton has explained his reason for benching Russell, claiming he was looking to spark the offense. But it hardly takes a genius to figure out that the move was motivated by money.
Wilson has since revealed that the team threatened to sit him after asking him to agree to change the injury guarantees in his deal earlier in the season.

“They definitely told me I was going to be benched and all that,” he said, per ESPN. “That whole bye week I didn’t know what was going to be the case, I was going to be ready to play, I wanted to go to Buffalo and beat Buffalo (Nov. 13). … I wasn’t going to remove the injury guarantee.
“This game is such a physical game, I’ve played 12 years and all that. I want to be able to play, I want to be able to help this team win. … I know every time I step on the field it’s a physical game. I never play timid, I never play scared.”
The veteran’s future remains up in the air at the moment. But it’s become clear that he’s not the one Payton wants managing his offense in Denver.
Trading him is expected to be a tall task.
