New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has revealed he’s looking to play for several more years following his move from the Denver Broncos.
Wilson was released by the Broncos ahead of free agency in the wake of two disappointing seasons with him under center. He is hoping to resurrect his career in Pittsburgh, having joined the Steelers in a move that’s saved them a lot of money, and it appears he’s looking to play a lot more football, though he’s already 35 years old and will turn 36 around the midway point of the 2024 season.
The veteran signal-caller is said to have revealed that he would like to play well into his forties, which would see him follow in the footsteps of Tom Brady, somewhat.

MLFootball has quoted NBC in claiming that Russell Wilson wants to keep going for another seven years.
The nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion does have a strict diet and puts himself a strenuous fitness routine, so playing for another seven years is definitely possible, though catching up to Brady in both achievements and longevity is another thing altogether.

The Broncos Believed In Russell Wilson’s Longevity
As to whether or not Russell Wilson gets into Brady range is left for time to tell, but Peyton Manning range isn’t as far off. The latter retired a few weeks before his 40th birthday in 2016 and the Broncos were of the view that Wilson could go as long as they handed him a five-year extension on top of the two years he still had remaining on his contract with the Seattle Seahawks after they acquired him via trade in 2022.
Unfortunately for both parties, things did not work out in Denver, to the point where the team willingly took on a record amount in dead money to release the veteran quarterback.
The Steelers, meanwhile, have gotten themselves two competent QBs this offseason as they’ve also traded for Justin Fields on the back of Kenny Pickett’s departure.
