Year one of the Russell Wilson tenure in Denver has gone horribly wrong as the Broncos currently sit in last place in the AFC West with a 4-11 record. The defense has been steady all season long, it is the offense that has been the problem as Denver sits dead last in the league averaging a paltry 15.5 points per game.
With head coach Nathaniel Hackett being fired earlier this week, one name being mentioned as his replacement is current Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. He was the defensive coordinator in Seattle in 2013-2014 when Wilson was with the Seahawks and he would reportedly bring Brian Schottenheimer to be the offensive coordinator.
Schottenheimer was the offensive coordinator in Seattle from 2018-2020 and those were some of Wilson’s best seasons as he made the Pro Bowl in each season and threw for a career high 40 touchdown passes in 2020.
The Denver Broncos invested heavily in Russell Wilson by giving up a lot to get him as well as signing him to a massive contract. They need to do whatever it takes to try and make things work and bringing in some familiar faces would be a step in the right direction.
