Things have certainly escalated rather quickly.
The Broncos’ decision to bench Russell Wilson is expected to get much worse for the 35-year-old QB.
Following the news of him being benched for the remainder of the season in favor of Jarrett Stidham, more news surfaced that the Broncos are expected to cut him in March.
Dianna Russini further reported that the team reached out to Wilson’s representatives in late October and explained that Wilson would lose the starting job and be made inactive for the rest of the season if he did not defer the injury guarantee trigger.

Wilson is among the NFL’s top 10 in touchdown passes and passer rating, but the Broncos are among the league’s worst on offense this year.
The Broncos will also likely finish without a 1,000-yard receiver for the fourth consecutive season and will probably miss the playoffs for the 8th-straight year.
The only game which Russell Wilson tossed for 300 yards came in their 70-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins where it was mainly garbage yards and Sean Payton’s refusal to take him out.
Wilson is guaranteed $39 million in 2024 whether he is with the team or not so the Broncos will be paying up.
