The Chicago Bears are not having the season they expected given their 2-6 start. And it appears that things are not great off the field either as it’s been reported that one of their coaches has been fired.
According to The Athletic, the NFC North side has handed running backs coach David Walker his marching orders, cutting ties with the 53-year-old due to his behavior in the workplace. Walker is the second assistant coach who has left the Bears this season, with former defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigning last month with claims he was leaving so he could take care of his health and family.
ESPN adds that a source told them Walker had already been reprimanded by the team’s HR department and was fired after a second instance.
The HR department was involved in Williams’ decision to resign, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reports the two incidents are isolated.
Walker was hired by head coach Matt Eberflus in 2022. He worked as a running backs coach for the Detroit Lions from 2016 to 2018.
The team is yet to announce the departure. However, Eberflus is scheduled to speak to the press this Wednesday.
