A report from the Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar, Michael Sando and Jayson Jenks took a deep dive into the rift between the Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson that has played out in real time this offseason.
Representatives for the Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson have reportedly “broached” the idea of a trade with the team’s front office. The Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets are among the potential landing spots for the eight-time Pro Bowl QB.
“Some people around the league think a trade could happen, if not this offseason then sometime in the near future,” according to The Athletic report.
Wilson’s problems with the organization stems from a fundamental disagreement with Carroll, per the Athletic. He believes Carroll’s style is holding him and the team back from reaching the statistical and team heights of other quarterbacks in the league.
NFL Network reporter Michael Silver said Monday that “probably” one-third of the league reached out to the Seahawks to gauge trade interest in Wilson and a starting price on a deal would be three first-round draft picks.
Wilson had a career-best 68.8 completion percentage, to go along with 4,212 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for the Seahawks. The team finished with a 12-4 record and a first-place finish in the NFC West.
