During the 2019 season, the Carolina Panthers were forced to play three different quarterbacks. Yet, the quarterback that started the season as well as the past few years probably won’t be on the roster in 2020.
That prompted David Newton of ESPN.com to predict numerous things in an article released on Friday. He believes the team will ultimately part ways with Newton and sign Teddy Bridgewater in free agency.
Cam was only able to start the first 2 games of the 2019 season before a foot injury would knock him out for the remainder of the year. Kyle Allen took over and rallied off 4-straight wins, before he came back to earth and he ultimately got benched and replaced by Will Grier for the final two games. He did not look any better as well.
If the team elects not to bring Cam back, then the franchise is definitely in the market for another quarterback going forward.
Bridgewater spent the 2019 campaign with the New Orleans Saints, stepping in for five games after Drew Brees went down with an injury. He threw for 1,384 yards, nine touchdowns and 2 interceptions while completing 67.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 99.1.
The Saints won all five games with Bridgewater.
