Concerned Buffalo Bills fans needn’t worry just yet. General manager Brandon Beane may reportedly be in the midst of cooking up a blockbuster trade of his own.
Many were confused during round one of yesterday’s draft when the Buffalo Bills traded the No. 28 selection to the archrival Kansas City Chiefs, who selected Texas speedster and wideout Xavier Worthy.
Buffalo acquired the No. 32 pick from Kansas City as part of the return, only to deal that and the No. 200 selection to the Carolina Panthers (Buffalo got No. 133 and No. 141) in return. The NFC South club then used that pick on South Carolina receiver Xavier Legette, taking another option off the board for the WR-needy Bills.
After round one concluded, ESPN’s Matt Miller shared a very interesting text message he received from another NFL scout. That scout told Miller that the Bills’ decision to move down to No. 33 may be part of the plan to pull off a blockbuster trade for a receiver:
“Trading back to 33 (for Buffalo) is super smart. Now they have all day tomorrow to try and trade for Tee Higgins or one of the 49ers wideouts.”
Tee Higgins requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this week, while multiple NFL insiders have reported that the San Francisco 49ers could end up dealing Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk.

We’ll find out over the next few hours if the Bills can pull off a blockbuster of some sort…
Buffalo Bills Have To Get A Star WR For Josh Allen
The Bills can’t realistically expect to compete for a Super Bowl next year without adding at least one Pro Bowl-caliber wide receiver for Josh Allen.
They traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and lost No. 2 WR Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency. Free agent signing Curtis Samuel, who’s never had a 1,000-yard season, is the top WR on Buffalo’s depth chart.
Higgins, Aiyuk and Samuel are all established superstar receivers who could make a big-time difference in Buffalo’s offense. If Beane can’t pull off a trade for one of them, he sure as heck better use that No. 33 selection on a receiver.
