An NFL insider has floated a surprise NFC team as a possible landing spot for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
There are no indicators that the Eagles are looking to move on from Hurts, who signed a $255 million contract extension last offseason. But some can’t help but wonder if major changes await an Eagles franchise that fell well short of its lofty expectations in 2023, one that saw them drop six of their final seven games (including the playoffs).
On a recent edition of “PFT Live” (h/t DJ Siddiqi of Heavy.com), Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio floated the idea of the Seattle Seahawks making a play for last year’s MVP runner-up and almost-Super Bowl 57 champion:
“You can throw the Seahawks in as well, depending who the new head coach is. You got Geno Smith, where you have an opportunity to get out of the contract, and you could bring in Jalen Hurts if the new head coach decides ‘I think we can make things very special here with Jalen Hurts if he wants out of Philadelphia and needs a fresh start.'”
This is merely speculation on Florio’s end, and there’s really little reason to think that the Eagles would want to trade Hurts despite a miserable end to their once-promising season.
But rumors are always fascinating to ponder, especially when they include a top-tier quarterback like Hurts. If the Eagles ever decided to lose their minds and shop Hurts, then of course the Seahawks would be a fascinating landing spot.
