The Deshaun Watson saga in Atlanta has caused quite a mess and now the team has to fix their relationship with Matt Ryan, who is feeling unwanted at the moment. One way to do that is to pay him more money apaprently.
The veteran quarterback could very well demand a trade and make their situation worse, but it seems he’s choosing a different route. According to Lance Zierlein, Ryan wants a brand new three-year deal.
Ryan’s contract is up after the 2023 season and the team does not appear to have another QB in place to replace him.
The Falcons looked to be a finalist to get Watson, but the Cleveland Browns came out of nowhere to get a trade down with the Houston Texans, all while giving him a new deal as well.
The Falcons organization has yet to recover from that massive choke job they had in the Super Bowl against Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Ryan finished the year with 3968 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a completion rate of 67 last season, but the team wasn’t very good and missed the playoffs.
