Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans may get their wish to get a fresh new face at the quarterback position, but in the form of…. Andy Dalton?
Andy Dalton lost his starting job with the Cincinnati Bengals on his Birthday last week and showed his frustration by stating he’d wished it happened earlier so he and his agent could field trade calls.
A new report from CBS Sports claims that the recently benched Bengals starter could be a top target for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, because they are expected to move on from Jameis Winston after the 2019 season.
The new report states that Dalton, who made it clear he was unhappy after he lost his starting job, would welcome a trade in the offseason, and pointed to the Buccaneers as a likely landing spot. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports also stated that there will be a “viable trade market” for him. The report also noted that Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians has been high on Dalton in the past.
The 32-year-old Dalton has just one year left on his team-friendly contract, worth $17.5 million next season. If he never plays for the Bengals again, he will leave as the second-highest passer in franchise history who is tied for the Bengals’ record for touchdown passes (197).
