There is speculation going around that one of the Tennessee Titans’ AFC rivals could sign star running back Derrick Henry after a notable change on the coaching staff.
The two-time rushing champion is eligible to enter free agency for the first time in his career. Henry and the Titans are expected to part ways following a second consecutive losing and non-playoff season.
Last week, the Jets hired former Titans tight ends and running backs coach Tony Dews for their RB coaches role. Dews coached Tennessee’s running backs from 2018 to 2022 and their TEs for the 2023 campaign before taking the Jets’ job.
So naturally, speculation is growing that the Jets might look to reunite Dews with the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year.
The Jets already have a star running back in Breece Hall, who rushed for 994 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. The Jets tried pairing four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook with Hall, but the former had just 214 rushing yards on 67 carries before getting released.

With Aaron Rodgers coming back next season, the Jets should be in contention for a Super Bowl championship. But the 30-year-old Henry may very well wish to play for a team that will keep him in the RB1 role, and joining the Jets would mean a limited workload with Hall in the backfield as well.
