There’s a rumor going around that a popular NFL head coach and his team could part ways soon, even though the 2024 HC hiring cycle was just completed.
New York Jets fan and X/Twitter user Bklyn929, also known as “Sack Exchange”, reports that there’s a “50/50 chance” that Robert Saleh doesn’t return for a fourth season as the Jets’ head coach.
This comes after Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic published a new report detailing the tension within the Jets organization this past season.
This included an instance where Saleh threatened to take away the cell phones of staffers, wanting to know who leaked a story about quarterback Zach Wilson being reluctant to return to the Jets’ lineup.
The Jets went from 4-13 in 2021 (Saleh’s first year on the job) to 7-10 over each of the next two years. Owner Woody Johnson seemingly gave Saleh a vote of confidence after the regular season, but it appears as though there may be second thoughts on one or both sides now.
