The Indianapolis Colts made some major moves this week and it included releasing a guy while he was sleeping.
The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they’ve signed S Tyreque Jones to their practice squad, but in doing so, they also released defensive tackle Ross Blacklock from the unit.
The Colts added the 2020 2nd-round pick just last Tuesday. He joined them after leaving the Minnesota Vikings. It’s been a rough time for him in 2023 as this will be his third release of the year after he got cut from the Jacksonville Jaguars in September.
Blacklock’s career started with a $4 million rookie deal with the Houston Texans in 2020. Blacklock was selected as the No. 40 overall pick in the 2020 Draft by the Texans.
But now his career is in jeopardy. Spotrac says he will take home $16,100 for his short spell with the Colts.
The former star defensive tackle for the TCU Horned Frogs was named Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2017 but he has failed to live up to any expectations as he recorded just 14 tackles, including one tackle for a loss, and no sacks, in his first season.
