The Chicago Bears continue to dump star players for draft picks are part of their roster overhaul. And the latest player to go may very well be the biggest name of all.
According to several reports, the Bears have traded star linebacker Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens.
In return for Smith, the Bears will receive second- and fifth-round picks in next year’s draft.
The Bears have lacked draft picks in recent years thanks to deals like the one that got them Khalil Mack. However, going forward they will have plenty of ammo to work with at the draft, including a total of nine picks next offseason.

That should help the Bears accelerate their rebuild and put some key pieces around Justin Fields on that offense. Considering what the young sophomore has been doing with so little to work with, one can only imagine how good Fields might be once they put some playmakers around him.
As for the Ravens, they had some holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball, and Smith should do the trick. Sitting at 5-3 through the first eight weeks, this is just another AFC team that you’ll want to keep your eye on going forward.
