It seems at times like Jerry Jones is searching for any reason he can find to re-sign former Cowboys running back and ol’ pal Ezekiel Elliott. And he may have just been given one.
According to reports out of Dallas, newly-acquired running back Ronald Jones is slated to “miss some time” with a groin injury, as head coach Mike McCarthy put it.
It’s just the latest setback for Jones, who was also suspended by the NFL one week ago for violating their PED policy. Between his two-game ban and his early injury, you have to wonder whether Jerry Jones is willing to trust Jones as the team’s backup to Tony Pollard.
According to the latest report, the Cowboys remain “in the mix” for free agent Ezekiel Elliott.
Ronald Jones spent the 2022 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played in just six games and carried the ball only 17 times. Prior to that, the former second-round pick spend four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won the Super Bowl while backing up Leonard Fournette during the 2020 season.
