Former Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera said he wasn’t done with coaching and he made good on that this week.
Ron Rivera is apparently applying to be a coach of another team after being sacked by the Washington Commanders.
The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to interview Rivera for the position of defensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The team recently parted company with Matt Patricia and Sean Desai.
The 62-year-old has not been a defensive coordinator since 2010 when he was with the Chargers — spending 2011-2019 as Carolina’s head coach and 2020-2023 as Washington’s head coach.
He compiled a 102-103-2 combined record as head coach.
Rivera took over the defensive play-calling for the Commanders late in the 2023 season after firing former coordinator Jack Del Rio and the team finished No. 32 in yards allowed and points allowed.

The previous year saw Washington as No. 3 in yards allowed and No. 7 in points allowed.
Rivera already has a history with the team as he was the Eagles linebackers coach under former head coach Andy Reid from 1999-2003.
The Eagles are coming off a disappointing season that started promising with a 10-1 record. The 10-1 start went to a 1-6 finish and an elimination in the Wild Card round.
