Ron Rivera was not trying to here these questions after his team had just won on Thursday.
Battling a shoulder injury, Carson Wentz completed 12 of 22 passes for 99 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for two yards in the Commanders’ 12-7 win over the Bears on Thursday night. It wasn’t the best game, but he did just enough to secure the victory.
After the game, head coach Ron Rivera took issue with reports that he didn’t pick Carson Wentz to be his QB.
“I’m the f–ing guy that pulled out the sheets of paper, looked at the analytics, and watched the tape.”
Earlier this week, Rivera was asked why the Commanders were 1-4 in his third season compared with the other teams in the division, which are all at least 4-1. Rivera answered, “Quarterback.”
Rivera apologized to quarterback Carson Wentz soon afterward.
