With the return of the annual International Series has come a slew of questions over the potential of a future UK-based franchise such has been the sport’s growth overseas since the first game in 2007.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has suggested that the league could introduce a European division while London itself could serve as the home to not one but two franchises.
According to ProFootballTalk, Goodell had this to say during the presser in London this week:
“There’s no question that London could support not just one franchise, I think two franchises. I really believe that. That’s part of what we’re doing, right? We’re trying to sort of see, could you have multiple locations in Europe where you could have an NFL franchise? Because it would be easier as a division.”
That bit of news was met with swift backlash as NFL fans blasted the idea as well as begged the commissioner to put teams in cities in the states that would thrive a lot more.

The NFL hasn’t added an expansion franchise since the Texans joined the league in 2002.
If the league does add European franchises, having them in the same division would make the most sense logistically.
