Robert Saleh has defended struggling quarterback Zach Wilson all year long, but the third-year head coach really seems to be out of answers at this point.
The Jets dropped their third straight contest on Sunday, falling 32-6 to the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills. Wilson had one of the worst outings for a QB in recent memory, completing just seven of 15 pass attempts for 81 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He was also sacked five times.
When ESPN’s Rich Cimini pointed out to Saleh that Wilson failed to complete a pass to a wide receiver in the contest, New York’s head coach struggled to come up with much of an answer.
“I don’t have an answer for that,” Saleh said, per Tyler Lauletta of Sports Illustrated. “Obviously, we’ll go back and watch all the tape…Whether it’s separation, being more decisive, protecting, like I said, none of it was good.”
The No. 2 pick of 2021 has completed just 59.2 percent of pass attempts for 1,944 yards and six touchdowns against seven interceptions.
