Another horrendous outing by Zach Wilson on Sunday wasn’t enough to entice New York Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh to make a change at quarterback.
Per Antwan V. Staley of the New York Daily News, Saleh told reporters that Wilson will remain the starting QB for their Week 4 home game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
This is certainly a questionable decision on Saleh’s end. Wilson completed jus 18 of 36 pass attempts in Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the New England Patriots for 157 yards and no touchdowns. The BYU product was frequently booed by Jets fans throughout the sluggish contest.
A week earlier in Dallas, Wilson was manhandled by a Cowboys’ defense that limited him to 12 completions, 170 yards and one touchdown against three interceptions.
The Jets’ defense has been lights-out in the early going, and they should be at least 2-1 with this roster talent. So Saleh’s confidence in Wilson against the defending champions, no less, is certainly difficult to comprehend.
