Unfortunately, it appears as though the New York Jets’ worst possible fears have come true.
New star quarterback Aaron Rodgers left the game after four snaps with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He was subsequently carted off, and backup quarterback Zach Wilson wound up finishing the game.
After the contest, head coach Robert Saleh announced that Rodgers likely has a torn Achilles, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini. If that’s’ true, the four-time league MVP will be out for the year.
It’s hard not to feel horrible for Rodgers and Jets fans. There was so much hype and excitement around his arrival in Gotham, but his first season there only lasted a couple of minutes.
Saleh also announced after the game that Wilson, who led the Jets to a 22-16 upset win over the Buffalo Bills, will be the starter from here. The Jets visit the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium this Sunday, via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
