Robert Kraft is facing intensifying pressure from Florida prosecutors as they seek to increase charges against him in a wide-ranging prostitution case.
Sun-Sentinel’s Marc Freeman dropped a report on Saturday that explained state lawyers have filed a request to the Florida Attorney General’s office to increase Kraft’s charge from two misdemeanors to a third-degree felony, which could earn him up to five years in prison.
The 78-year-old had previously pleaded not guilty to the two misdemeanor charges and requested a jury trial.
The New England Patriots owner is one of 25 people who face charges for this investigation into Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida. No matter what happens with his case, Kraft is likely to face some type of punishment from the National Football League at a later date.
Florida is still challenging a judge’s order to toss all evidence against Kraft, and that includes sex videos that cops recorded during their prostitution sting. The judge ruled police did not have a lawful “sneak-and-peek” warrant when surveillance cameras ran for five days at Orchids of Asia Day Spa.
Kraft reportedly showed up to the business on January 19th and the 20th, which was the same day as the American Football Conference Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
