New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is reportedly growing frustrated with head coach Bill Belichick, and his patience is running thin.
It’s now thought that Kraft could do the unthinkable and axe the six-time Super Bowl winner on the back of what has been a poor run of results since the departure of Tom Brady. The Pats are 26-29 in the post-Brady era left and have only featured in one playoff game as they have failed to advance to the postseason in two out of the three seasons since.
They’re 1-4 this season and things aren’t looking great for them. It would come as a huge surprise if they were able to make it past the regular season in 2023.
The Pats have gotten blown out in recent games against the Dallas Cowboys and and New Orleans Saints, with Kraft reported to have “grown frustrated, if not downright angry” by The Athletic’s Jeff Howe.
The report also notes that, contrary to popular belief, Kraft isn’t looking to let Belichick be the one who decides when his tenure as the Patriots HC comes to an end.
“There’s a school of thought that suggests Bill Belichick has earned the right to go out on his own accord, that the architect of the greatest dynasty in NFL history can coach in New England as long as he chooses,” Howe adds. “Kraft doesn’t subscribe to it.”
“On multiple occasions in recent years, he has lamented the team’s lack of a postseason victory in the post-Brady era.”

Brady’s replacement, Mac Jones, had an impressive rookie season. However, he has since taken several steps back since then. Belichick having him work under Matt Patricia and Joe Judge last season certainly didn’t help.
This term, the QB is working with underperforming receivers and a sub-par offensive line, which is why it’s hard to imagine the Pats turning things around anytime soon.
