Robert Kraft allegedly laid down a stern gauntlet to Bill Belichick after they both had to watch their former QB win without them.
According to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeSean McCoy, he just so happened to run into the Patriots owner at a party and they got to talking about quarterback Tom Brady, who left the Patriots and joined the Bucs. After Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowls together, Brady managed to get his first Super Bowl win without the Patriots coach.
That made Kraft put the pressure on Belichick to win one as well.
During an appearance on the “i am athlete” podcast, McCoy recounted what Kraft told him: “I’m mad (Tom Brady) left. I told Bill, ‘Damnit, you let Tom win a championship. It’s time for you to win one.’”
McCoy then added his own comments.
“He’ll never win a championship again,” McCoy said. “That [expletive] is dead.”

After missing the playoffs in 2020, Bill Belichick made the shocking decision to cut Cam Newton and ride with rookie Mac Jones in 2021.
Jones had a solid year that saw him finish the regular season with 3,801 passing yards. That’s the fifth most all-time for a rookie quarterback. He also completed 67.6% of his passes (352-of-521), with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
The pressure led to the Patriots getting back into the postseason this year. As you saw on Saturday night, that return to the postseason did not work out as the Buffalo Bills dismantled the Pats and sent them into the offseason with more questions than answers.
