The New York Jets are in the hunt for another quarterback after losing Aaron Rodgers for the season.
The former Green Bay Packers QB tore his Achilles on the first drive of his debut with the team, snapping said tendon while getting sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd on Monday night.
With Zach Wilson now the starting QB for the rest of the campaign, the Jets are understood to be keen on bringing in another veteran presence.
They’re actually spoilt for choice on that front as there are multiple free agents out there, including Cam Newton, Carson Wentz, Joe Flaco, Matt Ryan, Colin Kaepernick, and Robert Griffin III.
Kap’s agent has already reached out to the team, however, RGIII has ruled several of them, including himself, out of the running as he claims that they won’t be signed because they would be distractions.
“It’s not that we can’t play the game anymore, it’s that we’re a big distraction if you bring us in,” the former Commanders, Browns, and Ravens quarterback said on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ on Tuesday.
“I had a general manager tell me this offseason, ‘Hey man, I know you can still play, you look like you can still play, but if we bring you in it’s going to be a distraction for our starting quarterback.'”

RGIII hasn’t played in the NFL since 2020, but Kap is on a much longer drought as he hasn’t been involved in a game since the 2016 NFL season.
