Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is a certified party animal and one of the most fun personalities to ever grace the NFL. The man is a national treasure.
According to Gronk, his partying days preceded his time in the NFL. And, speaking to Jason Tartic on the Trading Secrets podcast, the former tight end revealed he partied the night before his pre-draft visit with the Patriots and showed up with a hangover that completely wrecked the outing.
Bill Belichick did not let that get in the way, however, and the Pats selected Gronkowski at 42nd overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It turned out to be a great decision because Gronk went on to become one of the best tight ends in NFL history, with a Hall of Fame induction a foregone conclusion.
A four-time Super Bowl champion, Gronkowski is a four-time First Team All-Pro inclusion, a five-time Pro Bowler, and was part of the 2010’s All-Decade Team.
Of course, Belichick and the Patriots did their homework on the scouting end as they would have probably passed on Gronk otherwise.
The 33-year-old had offers to return to the NFL before the playoffs but decided to stay retired. He is now looking forward to reuniting with Tom Brady at FOX.
