First Tom Brady shuns the New England Patriots in his retirement post. And now Rob Gronkowski?
Both Brady and Gronk made their names as members of the Pats for many years, so it’s rather obvious when either of them fails to mention the very team that drafted them in their retirement messages.
Brady was the first to make this mistake when he announced his retirement back in February… Although, as we all know by now, the GOAT never really bought into his own retirement, because about a month later he was already announcing his comeback. So we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here.
As for Gronk, well, it may be fair to assume that he left the Patriots out of this retirement statement because he had already thanked the Patriots in a previous retirement statement—when he hung up the cleats for the FIRST time three years ago, after the Pats won Super Bowl 53 over the Los Angeles Rams.
In reality, it wouldn’t make much sense for Gronk to thank the Pats again, because he hasn’t played a snap for them since he last thanked them following his initial retirement. Gronk has been a Buccaneer for the last two seasons since his return. So he chose to only thank the Bucs for making his college dream of playing pro football in Tampa come true.
Despite all the aforementioned reasons why Gronk didn’t necessarily need to thank the Patriots once again, many still took to social media to voice their thoughts over the tight end’s neglect for his former team.
