Recently retired tight end Rob Gronkowski had a truly miserable time after the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII. Sure, on television he looked absolutely happy, but the pain he was going through in his body was just too much.
Gronk’s 6 catches for 87 yards helped the team to a 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, but he couldn’t focus on the accomplishment because of the physical pain of yet another injury.
“I got done with the game, I could barely walk,” Gronkowski said at a Tuesday press conference to announce a partnership with a CBD company. “I go to the afterparty, I sit down and I’m just chilling, like the rest of the night until 3 a.m.”
Things only got worse once he returned to the team hotel.
“I try to go to bed, I slept for five minutes that night. I couldn’t even think. I was in tears, in my bed, after a Super Bowl victory,” Gronkowski admitted. “It didn’t make that much sense to me. And then, for four weeks, I couldn’t even sleep for more than 20 minutes a night after a Super Bowl win. And I was like, ‘Damn, this sucks.’”
Gronkowski stated he was dealing with internal bleeding in his leg, so the following month was quite literally the most draining experience of his life.

“I took out 200 milliliters of blood four weeks later, and then another week later, I took out 500 milliliters of blood, and then I took out 300 more milliliters of blood from my quad,” Gronkowski revealed. “So, that’s a total of 1,000 milliliters I took out of my quad over a four-week period after the Super Bowl. It’s not normal.”
I think it’s safe to say that Gronk is truly done with football.
