Rob Gronkowski loves making 69 jokes, for obvious reasons. He loves it so much that the Bucs tight end once purposely missed a free throw in high school, so his team would have 69 points.
Chuck Swierski, Gronk’s basketball coach at Williamsville North High School, to WPRI about Gronk the hoops player:
“So we’re playing a home game and we have 68 points – now it’s not a blowout, but it’s not a particularly close game either. So he [Gronkowski] gets fouled and goes to the free throw line. He hits the first one to get us to 69 and the place goes nuts because he’s playing into it. On his next free throw, he purposely chucks the ball off the backboard and misses so the score would stay at 69 and then runs back on defense pointing at the scoreboard.”
On Monday, his former teammate Julian Edelman retired from the NFL, so naturally, people wanted to know his thoughts about it.
TMZ Sports caught up with him and asked the future hall of fame tight end if he comes out of retirement to join the Bucs.
“Is there any chance he ends up in Tampa Bay?”
Gronk: “A 69% chance.”

The NFL transaction wire released Monday stated that Edelman had his contract terminated by the Patriots, but it was done so as part of his looming retirement.
“It was a hard decision, but the right decision for me and my family,” Edelman said. “And I’m honored and so proud to be retiring a Patriot. … It’s been the best 12 years of my life.”
