Super Bowl 57 is now officially ranked as the most-watched NFL curtain closer in football history.
The game, a thriller between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs that took place on February 12, ended with the latter winning a second title in four years but was more or less decided by a holding call.
According to USA Today, Nielsen has revised the viewership numbers to determine the above, making the halftime performance by Rihanna the most-viewed show of its kind. The event is understood to have drawn 121 million viewers.
It’s no wonder the Federal Complaints Commission got 103 complaints, with viewer issues ranging from the performance being graphic to having sensitive lyrics to being too sexual.
Per Nielsen’s revised numbers, the game drew a total viewership of 115.1 million, surpassing the record set by Super Bowl 49 – between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks – which saw 114.4 people tune in back in 2015.
Nielsen had previously noted that the most recent Super Bowl had attracted a viewership number of 113.06 million but, this week, they reported having revisited the data because of an external coding problem and a firmware upgrade.

The recent draft was another success for the league in terms of viewership as it brought in over 54 million viewers to mark a 13 percent improvement from 2022 while 312,000 people attended the event in Kansas City.
