NFL fans had plenty of fun takes after an old story about Ricky Williams changing his name resurfaced.
The former Miami Dolphins’ star running back changed his name to “Errick Miron” last year, wanting to take the surname of his wife, Linnea. Errick is the name of Williams’ father.
The ML Football account passed along the old story on X (formerly known as Twitter). Here’s how fans on social media reacted to the post on Williams’ name change:

Williams is widely regarded as a bust because of the price that then-New Orleans Saints’ head coach Mike Ditka paid to trade up and select him in 1999. But Williams was actually among the NFL’s most productive running backs of the 2000s, earning one Pro Bowl nod while leading the NFL in rushing during the 2002 season.
Williams surpassed 1,000 rushing yards five times, including twice with the Saints. The 1998 Heisman Trophy winner helped New Orleans to a postseason appearance back in 2000, and the Dolphins to a surprise AFC East division crown in the 2008 season.
He retired with 10,009 rushing yards and 66 rushing touchdowns.
