Richard Sherman has long been among the NFL’s most vocal players regarding its off-field issues, and now he is directly calling out one of the owners and their silence on a huge issue in the country.
After commissioner Roger Goodell released a strong statement supporting the black community last week, the San Francisco 49ers cornerback wants that same message reiterated from individual owners, specifically Jerry Jones.
“It’s not pulling [NFL owners] like it is the rest of the country. Because if it was, then they’d speak.
“Jerry Jones, especially, has no problem speaking up any other time about anything else. But when it’s such a serious issue, and he could really make a huge impact on it with a few words, his silence speaks volumes.”
The Cowboys have been active following George Floyd’s death, but owner Jerry Jones hasn’t been seen at all.
The team released a video showing their players’ and coaches’ conversation about social injustice over the past two years and Jones did not appear in that video.
