It has been a tough few days for Richard Sherman. The free agent cornerback was arrested early Wednesday morning after getting into a car accident, trying to bust into his father-in-law’s home, and fighting off cops.
Sherman eventually had to be taken down by a police K9 and multiple officers in Redmond, Washington. He’s facing multiple chargers, including burglary domestic violence and DUI.
He was released from prison on Thursday, and on Friday he issued a statement on Twitter. In the statement, Sherman acknowledges his mistakes, and while he does admit he’s been battling mental health issues over the past several months, he states that it is not an excuse for his actions.
Here’s the entire statement:
The good news is Sherman has acknowledged his need for help. And it sounds like he’s ready to get the help he needs. He also seems to have a good support group around him, as it was previously reported that several of his friends had even been flying in to try and provide Sherman with some comfort.
