Earl Thomas is most definitely on his way out of Seattle, after he suffered a season-ending leg injury during a Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and that was after the franchise refused refused to grant the six-time Pro Bowler an extension or a trade.
Thomas, who grew up in Orange, Texas and played college football at the University of Texas, has been linked to the Cowboys ever since he told Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett at the end of the 2017 season, “If you have a chance to get me, come get me.”
Richard Sherman is not just going to sit around and let that happen.
The San Francisco 49ers cornerback told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday that he has been recruiting former Seahawks teammate Earl Thomas to the 49ers, and believes he will choose between the 49ers and Cowboys when free agency officially opens in March.
“If the money’s equal, if all things are equal, he’s going to Dallas,” Sherman said Wednesday, according to Gregg Bell of The Sacramento Bee. “Now if that (compensation is) not the same, there’s more of a discussion, more of a fight. But then it becomes a bidding war. But that’s up to people (who) make more major decisions than I.”
“There’s serious interest. There’s obviously a clear and easy fit,” Sherman said. “But financially it has to make sense. If you go into free agency and say, ‘Hey, we offered Earl Thomas $7 million,’ it doesn’t matter how much I recruit, it doesn’t how much you say. If finances make sense, then I would say we’re a major player in it. If everything aligns the right way.”

Thomas wanting to play for Dallas is easier said than down since Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and DeMarcus Lawrence are all in line for lucrative contract extensions.
