San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy missed some of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game with an elbow injury on his right throwing arm, but WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair wasn’t buying it as an excuse.
Flair, who’s no stranger to making strange and head-scratching comments, called for Purdy go to back into the game. The Nature Boy brought up the fact that he survived a plane crash in 1975.
Purdy suffered an elbow injury during the 49ers’ first drive, and the game was essentially over from there. The offense struggled to get much going with their fourth QB option in Josh Johnson, and then he had to leave the game in the third quarter after suffering a concussion.
Purdy returned to the game in favor of Johnson, but his limitations with the elbow injury forced the 49ers to rely on the ground game. They never stood a chance against Philly’s stout front seven, and the Eagles cruised to an easy 31-7 win.
The Eagles will play the winner of the Kansas City Chiefs-Cincinnati Bengals AFC Championship Game in Super Bowl 57.
