Robert Griffin III was tuned into the football on Sunday, along with most of the world, only it was the game most other countries call football, not the game he played.
France star forward Kylian Mbappe was the best player on the pitch, having reached his second-straight World Cup final, scoring the first hat trick the tournament has seen in its curtain closer since 1966, when Geoff Hurst did so.
Unfortunately, Kylian’s efforts didn’t result in France winning the World Cup as the Argentinians won on penalties. The Paris Saint-Germain attacker scored all three of France’s goals, finding the back of the net twice in under a minute to pull his country level and force extra time after they had gone down 2-0. He scored another in the additional period to equalize at 3-3 after Lionel Messi put La Albiceleste ahead.
The 23-year-old also scored in the shootout when his number was called, doing everything he could to return the trophy to France for another four years. It wasn’t to be, but he will be taking home the Golden Boot award and showed why Real Madrid’s so desperate to sign him.
Also on show from Mbappe all tournament: unreal pace. The eight-goal World Cup star is one of the fastest players in football (might as well continue calling it that) and RGIII was enamored by the prospect of seeing him play in the NFL.

“Mbappé is SOOOO FAST,” he tweeted during the game. “Imagine throwing Mbappe a play action slant and he takes it 70 yards to the HOUSE.”
Would Kylian Mbappe Thrive In The NFL?
Mbappe has already left little to the imagination when it comes to getting from point A to point B on a pitch. So it’s easy to see how he would thrive as an NFL wide receiver. The likelihood of a switch is slim to none but it would really be something, wouldn’t it?
It would take a whole lot for just about anyone in the NFL right now to keep up with Mbappe’s ridiculous pace. It’s why he’s one of the top five footballers of the current era.
