A certain retired quarterback is trending online following the Cleveland Browns announcing that Deshaun Watson’s season is over.
Watson is set to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering a fracture against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday but is expected to be back for the start of next season. In the meantime, Cleveland is without an established starter, with PJ Walker and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson the only other QBs on their roster.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team will add a third, and the internet is almost unanimous on who he should be: former Chargers and Colts QB Philip Rivers.
The eight-time Pro Bowler is 41 and retired, but fans think he could do the job in Cleveland after going 11-5 in his final season back in 2020.
Rivers, who spent 15 years in the NFL, is the head coach of the St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama. Even so, fans are of the view that he could be coaxed back into playing.

The Browns would probably be a neat pick for a QB looking for one final run as they are in playoff contention at 6-3 and are one win away from leading the AFC North.
They will need to make a decision on who their starter will be sooner rather than later as they don’t have a bye week to figure things out.
Maybe Rivers ends up being their man? The wait to find out won’t be very long.
