The Washington Redskins could look a lot different on offense in 2023.
For starters, the team is currently searching for a new offensive coordinator that they’re hoping will turn this unit around and help them compete for a playoff spot in the NFC East.
And based on their recent interviews with prospective OC candidates, it sounds like the team has already chosen a quarterback for next season.
According to reports, the team is telling everyone they interview that 2022 fifth-round pick Sam Howell will be their starting quarterback in 2023.
Whether or not they stick to this remains to be seen. Washington appears to have plenty of other pieces in place already, so going with a second-year quarterback with one career start may not be the most appealing path for the organization.
The Commanders own the 16th overall pick in the upcoming draft, so there’s always a chance that they draft one of this year’s top prospects. Or they could make a push for Jimmy Garoppolo or Derek Carr.

No one knows for sure who will be under center for Washington come week 1 of the 2023 season, but this latest news does pretty much guarantee that it won’t be Taylor Heinicke or Carson Wentz.
