Trade talks for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo are expected to heat up, with him eventually finding his way to a new spot this offseason.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders are “highly intrigued” by Garoppolo.
Pittsburgh is now dealing with life after ben Roethlisberger after he retired following their playoff loss against the Chiefs.
Washington has made it clear they are trying to upgrade their QB position and Jimmy G would be a welcome adition.
As far as Garappolo, he will undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him until the summer, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It will not impact his trade status.
Garoppolo has spent the last five seasons in San Francisco. The team is ready to move on as they are looking to Trey Lance as a replacement, the No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft.

This past season, Garoppolo threw for 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The 49ers finished this year 10–7 and lost in the NFC championship game to the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams.
