Two top Super Bowl 58 contenders reportedly have interest in free agent running back Dalvin Cook, who was waived by the New York Jets on Tuesday.
According to a report from CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Baltimore Ravens “may have potential interest” in signing Cook to their practice squad. Anderson added that the Dallas Cowboys are considering the idea of signing Cook as well.
The Jets signed Cook following his release from the Minnesota Vikings last offseason. There was hope that Cook form a dynamic 1-2 RB duo with rising star Breece Hall, but the Jets barely utilized Cook this season.
The four-time Pro Bowler saw only 67 carries for 214 yards and no touchdowns in 15 game appearances. Cook averaged a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry, though he can hardly be blamed given the struggles of the Jets’ offensive line this year.
Usually productive in the passing game, Cook was only targeted 20 times with the Jets. He caught 15 passes for 78 yards and zero touchdowns.
Baltimore boasts the No. 1 rushing offense in football, averaging 159.7 yards on the ground per game. Lamar Jackson leads the way with 821 yards, with Gus Edwards right behind him (762 yards, 13 rushing touchdowns).

Tony Pollard leads the Cowboys with 935 rushing yards, but Rico Dowdle is a distant second on the team with 315 yards. Dallas especially could use more RB insurance to help Pollard, and a four-time 1,000-yard rusher like Cook could be the solution.
