It’s crazy how things work out. Back in the beginning of the NFL offseason, Tom Brady shocked the world by announcing that he was signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Around that same time, the Chicago Bears announced that they were making a trade with Jacksonville for Nick Foles — who has since been beat out by Mitch Trubisky for the team’s starting quarterback position.
But did you know that we were awfully close to having none of this happen at all? Instead, according to the Dan Patrick, Brady almost chose the Bears over the Bucs, as the two teams were among his final three candidates — along with the Los Angeles Chargers.
While speaking on his show, Patrick claimed that he was told the Bears were Brady’s second choice after Tampa. The reason was believed to be Brady’s desire to remain near his son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, who lives in New York with his mother, Bridget.
