Future Hall of Fame quarterback is looking more and more likely to be making his exit from the only franchise he has ever known.
As Tom Brady weighs his options for where he’ll play in 2020, it is now being reported he also thinking about the future with a desire to make an impact on the game when he retires.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports first reported that it would be “extremely surprising” to see Brady sign a contract extension with the New England Patriots before NFL free agency opens on March 18.
He also stated that Brady will meet with other teams and wants the chance to mentor a young quarterback, helping the organization in the future.
Brady threw for 4,057 yards this season with 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions during the 2019 season, but saw his postseason end early in the Wild Card round against the Tennessee Titans.
Brady will be 43 entering the 2020 season, and although he hopes to play until he’s 45, other teams might not want to give him 2 years and a bunch of money that he covets in free agency. Still, his leadership and overall talent could set a franchise up for many years of success if they have the right young QB on the roster.
