Before their divorce on Friday, Tom Brady was “really trying to fix” his marriage to Gisele Bündchen.
According to a recent report from People.com, the Tampa Bucs quarterback was trying his absolute best “to make things work” with wife Gisele Bündchen before the couple’s official split after 13 years together.
However, his relationship was too far gone and it was simply “too little, too late.” Adding, “She gave him a lot of opportunities to fix things, and he didn’t.”
A source told PEOPLE that Bündchen felt Brady “wasn’t as attentive as he should’ve been.” Brady was “busy following his passion” during their 13-year marriage, which the source says “is good” for him, but it ultimately left the model feeling that “he wasn’t hearing what she was saying.”
Brady was asked on his podcast if there has been a challenge trying to “compartmentalize” his personal life and work, to which he replied, “That’s what being a professional is.”
Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and share two children, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9.

His problems off the field might be finalized but his team is 3-5 as they start a new month two games under .500. The Buccaneers have lost five of six games and this is the first time Brady has ever been on a team that’s lost five of six games in the NFL.
Brady is also two games under .500 in the regular season as a starting quarterback for the first time and is experiencing a three-game losing streak for the first time in two decades.
The last time Brady lost three straight games was in 2002.
