Tom Brady announced his decision to un-retire and play another season in the National Football League last weekend and the only shocking thing about it is that he came back so soon after he hung his cleats in February.
“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG,” Brady announced on Twitter last Sunday night.
According to reports, the 44-year-old legend actually had interest in playing for another team besides the Tampa Bay Bucs. That team was the Miami Dolphins.
“I know that’s true because I heard it independently, and I know I heard it from a different source than Mike Florio heard it,” Ben Volin said. “So that to me is the key. …
“Brady was gonna go run the Dolphins, and then Brian Flores files his lawsuit and throws a wrench in the entire thing. Now all of a sudden you’re worried about cell phones and discovery and all this stuff, so Brady, they scrap those plans. So now Brady’s looking at it, ‘Well, what am I gonna do? Sit around on my couch for a year? No, I might as well go play football.’”
You can fully expect reporters to ask him about this report, but don’t actually expect him to confirm that news. For Dolphins fans, it would’ve been hard to cheer for a man who has brought them so much pain for over 20 years, but making them a championship contender could solve just about any problem they would have with that.
Brady recorded 5,316 passing yards, 43 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions in 2021.
We expect those numbers to be about the same when he turns 45-years-old before the 2022 season.
