T.J. Watt moves very quickly on and off the field. The 2017 first-round pick out of Wisconsin compiled a league-high 15 sacks in 2020, along with 27 quarterback hits and 33 quarterback hurries.
He also sacked his agents off the field when the All-Pro “overruled” them when they believed they could get more money from the Steelers. Watt reportedly marched into the office of Steelers president Art Rooney to make sure their deal would get done today.
“Steelers’ OLB T.J. Watt overruled his agents who believed they could get more money today, marched into the office of Steelers president Art Rooney and told him they had a deal,” Schefter wrote on Twitter. “Then the NFL’s new highest-paid defensive player excused himself and announced he had to go work out.”
The 26-year-old pass-rusher signed a historic four-year extension on Thursday worth more than $112 million, with $80 million guaranteed.
In 2020, Watt showed how dominate he could be as he led the league in sacks (15.0), tackles-for-loss (23) and quarterback hits (41). It was his third consecutive year with double-digit sacks.
