Star running back Saquon Barkley is set to leave the New York Giants in free agency this offseason.
The Giants franchise tagged the player last offseason but have opted not to do so this time around, letting him walk into free agency for the first time in his career.
Barkley is now being strongly linked with a move to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reports coming from both Philly and NY are claiming as much, with 94.1 WIP’s Howard Eskin, an Eagles insider of sorts, noting that the 2022 NFC champions are interested in the RB. The New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy has also reported there is mutual interest between the parties and that a move to the City of Brotherly Love is a “real possibility.”
Barkley led the NFL in yards from scrimmage as a rookie in 2018 and has recorded 2,892 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

While running backs no longer come at a premium, it still seems like the Eagles might not be willing to pay what the player is likely to ask for considering how they’ve paid RBs in the past. Even so, Howie Roseman just might be tempted to go overboard with the former Penn State star given how formidable the team’s offense would immediately become with him in it.
